The biggest edition of Formnext Asia ever opened in Shenzhen on 26 August, with 330 exhibitors and international registration up more than 50% on last year. Creality's K3: toolchanging at five seconds
Creality used the show to present the K3, an FFF printer with automatic nozzle changing. The company claims a nozzle swap in about five seconds and a colour or material change in under fifteen, with roughly 4.5× lower extruder maintenance costs than standard designs. Shenzhen Xike unveiled its first in-house printer under the new AxiLoop brand. The MC8 carries eight independent printheads, each with its own spool and automatic loading, on a 300 × 300 × 300 mm build volume at up to 600 mm/s. The headline claim is ten times less purge waste than typical multi-material systems. When every gram of plastic counts, the material economy of a machine matters as much as its speed.
Metal at the 3-metre scale
Xi'an Youhu Zhirong introduced the APX-L3001, a laser wire-feed metal system with a working envelope stretching to three metres. With an 18 kW laser and six-axis kinematics, it targets large-part repair and near-net-shape production — a reminder that while the desktop aisle grabs the headlines, industrial metal deposition keeps marching upward in scale.
