What Do You Actually Want to Make?

This is the most important question, and the one beginners most often skip. A printer that is perfect for cosplay armor is a poor choice for jewelry casting, and vice versa. Before you start shopping, spend an honest hour on platforms like Printables, Thingiverse, and Cults3D. Save a few models that look interesting to you. Are they large or small? Functional or decorative? Single material or multi-color? Once you have a short list of 5 to 10 real models, the printer recommendation writes itself. FDM or Resin
If your list is mostly large parts, cosplay, jigs, brackets, planters, household items, you want an FDM printer. Brand Recommendations for First Printers
For FDM first printers, we usually point people toward the Bambu Lab A1 mini for absolute beginners, the A1 combo for those who want multi-color or larger build volume, the Creality K1C for speed-focused users, and the Prusa MK4S for those who value an open ecosystem and lifetime support. For resin first printers, the Anycubic Photon Mono 8K is the sweet spot for detail and price. The Elegoo Saturn 4 is a strong alternative with a larger build plate. What to Buy With the Printer
A first printer rarely comes with everything you need. At minimum, you also want: a spool of PLA filament (we recommend ANTINSKY PLA+ to start), a build plate cleaner, a small toolkit with hex keys and a scraper, a dry box or a few vacuum bags with desiccant, and a few rolls of blue painter's tape or Magigoo adhesive if you are using a glass bed. For resin printers: a 1 kg bottle of resin, IPA for cleaning, nitrile gloves, paper towels, a UV curing lamp, and a small carbon filter for ventilation.
