Ask any experienced resin printer user what the most common cause of failed prints is, and most will point to the same thing: a worn release film. Scratched, cloudy, or stretched FEP film reduces print success rates dramatically — and many users replace their film far less often than they should, simply because they dread the process.
FEP, nFEP, and PFA: What Is the Difference?

Standard FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) film has been the default resin vat material for years. It works, but it is not particularly durable — a single failed print with sharp supports can scar the surface enough to cause future failures in the same spot.
nFEP (non-stick FEP) adds a surface treatment that significantly reduces the force required to peel each cured layer from the film. Less peel force means fewer failed supports, less stress on the print, and longer film life. For printers running high-viscosity engineering resins, this reduction in peel force can be the difference between a 90% and 99% success rate.
PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) film goes a step further. It offers even lower surface energy than nFEP, is more resistant to chemical degradation from aggressive resins, and typically lasts 2-3x longer than standard FEP before showing signs of wear.
